Her internship and specialty training was in Emergency Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine where she excelled, winning many scholarships including the EMRA Scholarship to attend the 2002 ACEP Leadership and Legislative Issues Conference in Washington D.C.

In addition to her medical practice, she teaches nurse practitioner students at the Nell Hodgson School of Nursing at Emory University as an Adjunct Professor. It is an unpaid position with numerous non-monetary benefits. Besides the obvious learning benefit that accompanies teaching a particular subject, this experience has allowed Dr. Brenner to hone her lecturing ability. Her ability to simplify complicated topics is exemplified by the fact that her “Fluids & Electrolytes” lecture is consistently ranked among the students’ favorites.

The first physician in her family, Dr. Brenner actually comes from two generations of attorneys. She credits her choice of medicine as a profession to the lively discussions of her father’s medical malpractice cases, as he currently is a practicing defense trial attorney in the medical malpractice field. And it is these discussions that led to her active participation in assisting him with a number of his cases.

An English major in college, her father also instilled a love and respect for the English language that allowed her passion to write the capability to blossom. Dr. Brenner has spent much of her spare time after college writing: poetry, novels, short stories, screenplays, medical research papers, medico-legal articles as well as a number of nonfiction works. In particular, she writes for Emergency Physicians Monthly - legal and wellness articles. And am on the board of that journal.
